GRVC is looking to provide early-stage, small-to-medium technology, manufacturing and distribution companies (less than $1mm EBITDA) the resources, experience and leadership they need to scale to the next level.

Our Story

GR Venture Capital (GRVC) was created in 2020 as the investment arm of Steven Barnes, a Grand Rapids native that has successfully launched, scaled and sold multiple companies within the technology and distribution industries. The current portfolio is home to over 220 employees and collectively brings in over $75mm in revenue, per year. GRVC focuses on buying small-to-mid market distribution and technology companies with EBITDA's under $1mm per year. The company focuses on implementing past technology, marketing, sales and leadership experience, while recruiting strong team members to scale accordingly. In addition to the venture capital arm, we have launched an internal real estate fund, called DevelopGR.

Currently, GRVC is backed by one single investor but is recruiting partners, investors, analysts and brokers to join the GRVC team. We are always looking to expand with well-connected and successful business owners in the West Michigan Area. GRVC is excited to become a dominant player in the market for years to come. Steven Barnes

President & CEO

Steve Barnes created GRVC after a decade of developing, scaling and selling businesses across retail, distribution and technology industries. Steve is excited to find the next group of companies to grow to the next level. He is a Grand Rapids native, who lives in Caledonia with his two dogs, Lana and Noble. He also was a part of the GRBJ's 40 under 40 class of 2018. He excels in team development, marketing and sales, strategic leadership and an understanding of technology infrastructure. He is looking forward to growing a new venture with an awesome team!
